Writing About Trauma, Recovery & Gender-Based Violence: A Clear Lines…

November 29, 2018 @ 6:30 pm

To recognise UN Women’s 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence, we will be hosting this special Clear Lines event, bringing together women authors whose work addresses issues of sexual violence and consent. Often drawing from their own lived experience, these award-winning writers work across a range of fiction, poetry, non-fiction, and memoir to capture the human truths behind trauma and challenge the injustice of gender-based violence.

Join us for a lively, honest discussion that will be divided into two panels of authors. What ethical considerations must a survivor/writer take on board when addressing this subject matter? Is creating literature from trauma triggering or healing? What challenges do we face from the publishing industry, and how may this have changed in the wake of #MeToo?
